MARTIAL ARTS FOR WOMEN 50 +

Explore the Energy, Vitality & Health you Truly Deserve

Let’s call it what it is girls: martial arts!

I know you can do it, because when I started over 10 years ago I was headed for back surgery (bulging discs, degenerative disc disease and that sort of jazz).  I was going insane from the back pain. Could not walk, sit, lie down, and accidentally bumping into something caused excruciating pain.

I started training in Neo martial arts and within a couple of months there was a drastic improvement. I have been pain free and able and limber for 10 years now (without surgery or medication).

I am a 2nd degree black belt in Neo Martial Arts, but thought, hey, who in her 50s will go for martial arts (besides me, who has always been yearning to do it). So I have been advertising my classes as the soft martial arts of qigong, tai chi. This will of course be part of the martial arts classes as well. By the way, the word “soft” is very deceiving. I takes great strength, coordination, balance and focus to do these disciplines.

I myself have been practicing these amazing soft arts all during these challenging times, but I need more. I also need the yang side of these arts, which is called “martial arts”. And perhaps you do too: something more active, invigorating, re-energizing.

So, let’s do it girls. A little intro at the beach. Maximum 10 participants so we can social distance. I will also only show movements and exercises that do not require direct physical contact for the time being.

I set up the training so that there is a gradual increase of challenging dynamic movements, breathing exercises, and so on. I do this for every student, carefully monitoring their progress. That is the beauty of our martial arts. It is very individualized. It is very empowering. And it is non-competitive. And, best of all ladies, it is so much funnnnn! Not the mention the glorious feeling when you do that which you thought you could never do.

So, in the spirit of us becoming spring chickens again I am posting a beautiful picture – that is how I see myself when I do martial arts: Girl, on the rocks:)

Cheers to being 50+!

SELF DEFENSE FOR WOMEN

This unique self defense is for women’s empowerment, toning and strengthening the muscles, creating strong tendons, increasing flexibility, balance and coordination, while learning self defense techniques. It includes Tai Chi and Qigong breathing and dynamic exercises. It is based on the principles of Neo Martial Arts, a non competitive martial arts.

This training is for women of all abilities, age 12 or more.

It is especially beneficial for women in their 50s and 60s to rejuvenate. It is not true that we are doomed to get older, become incapacitated, and we might as well just accept this. Our bodies are meant to move. If we haven’t moved in a while, well, of course, we loose strength, become stiff, uncoordinated.

With a little practice, we can reclaim our flexibility, coordination, strength, gently at first, gradually building up. And it is so much fun because as you are so focussed on doing the self defense techniques you forget that you are also training your body at the same time:)

We do not have to accept either that we will loose our mental powers of focus and concentration as we age. This too can be re-gained. Self defense is a fabulous way to do so.

Our body also releases endorphins as we train, and so elevating our mood and making us happier.

Being active boosts our immune system. Virusses are around year long. Yet in winter we get sick because there are added stresses because of the cold weather, and the stresses of the holidays. Rather then being obsessed with avoiding viruses at all cost, a futile effort, I propose we focus on enhancing our immune system. Then the virusses will have little effect.

Mastering your body (being in charge of your body) brings so much self awareness and self confidence. It is empowers you to take care of all aspects of your life.
